Stardew Valley version 1.5 introduced a new and valuable currency known as Golden Walnuts. These walnuts are essential for exploring Ginger Island, and this guide will provide you with a step-by-step process to find all 130 of them. As you follow along, you’ll notice a little note in the top left of the screen that acts as a hint to locate each golden walnut. These hints are obtained by talking to the parrot in Leo’s height.
To make it easier to follow, we’ll start with the earliest area accessible and progress to the latest area. Please note that initially, there isn’t much you can do on the beach, so we’ll head to the forest. In the forest, you’ll find three golden walnuts immediately. One is located on a bush, another can be obtained by hitting a tree with an axe inside Leo’s house, and the third can be found by taking a secret path to the right.
To move on to the next area, give the spirit a walnut, triggering a cut scene with Leo. From this point on, talking to the parrot will provide hints and open up new areas. In the northern area, there are several new golden walnuts. You’ll find one buried in a circle to the left, and a secret path leading to a walnut bush. Additionally, while fishing in the river, you might reel in a golden walnut randomly.
Continuing, you’ll find another walnut to the right of the previous one, and one buried in the middle of four patches of grass to the south. Another buried walnut can be found in a soft patch of sand north of that. As you reach the volcano, you’ll uncover a secret bush hidden behind a tree, and shooting at a tree with a slingshot will yield another walnut.
Now, let’s discuss Journal Scraps. By finding journal scrap number 10, you’ll be able to access three new walnuts. Journal scraps can be obtained through various actions, such as finding a secret note. Other walnuts can be found by breaking rocks and exploring crates. Once you reach the end of the volcano, you’ll find two golden walnuts in bushes.
After acquiring at least 10 golden walnuts, head to the western side of the island where you’ll locate most of the remaining walnuts. One can be found by following journal scrap number six and breaking apart muscle nodes. Breaking these nodes might take some time, but it’s worth it. Another walnut is buried in the center of the debris.
Next, walk to a shipwreck by crossing a thin part of land and solve a puzzle involving a diglett-like creature. You can either place items on the other holes or use your watering can to hit it from afar. These actions will reward you with a golden walnut. You’ll also find golden walnuts hidden in the sand and behind trees, as well as inside a cave where you’ll play Simon says to earn three walnuts.
Returning to the sleeping hut area, complete a fetch quest by delivering items to different characters, eventually obtaining the fairy dust recipe and additional golden walnuts.
To access the next area, you will need to unlock the farm by giving 20 walnuts to a bird. This opens up a pathway in the southeast part of the island. Here, you’ll find walnuts in a pond, a cave, and a mermaid during rainy days. You’ll also need to place note blocks at specific rocks, adjusting them based on the size description.
Following these steps and collecting all 130 golden walnuts will significantly enhance your exploration and gameplay experience on Ginger Island in Stardew Valley. Enjoy the rewards and possibilities that come with these valuable currency items.
